First of All - Period Drama Episode.jpg

"This episode of First of All is all about the sacred, frustrating, empowering, and still widely underdiscussed experience that 50% of the world's population experiences (usually) for more than half their lifespan - the female period. Minji invites her friend and acting school classmate Kristine Gerolaga to talk about a topic that has just started to lose it's taboo stigma that can now (hopefully) be discussed openly and in mixed company. Together they walk through their journeys as women learning, experiencing, and embracing their periods, excruciating PMS and all. They go in depth on the shame surrounding this common and universal female experience and the ways compassion and empathy can help women deal with some obnoxious and painful realities each month. They also discuss that problematic nature of how media and widespread first world culture has downplayed or even ridiculed women's bodies and the dangerous toll it can take on EVERYONE. As an actress, writer, and filmmaker, Kristine has approached the experiences and emotions of women all over the world through her film A Period Drama, which we hope you'll all take some time to watch! If you are a woman or if you have a mother, sister, cousin, coworker, colleague, or friend that has a uterus, this episode is for you. Time to share and learn, folks! Enjoy!" I was fortunate enough to work with Medium Rare for a short time but in that time I was able to interview some amazing actors and filmmakers about their latest projects! Medium Rare's focus is on the achievements of women and people of color in the television, film, and gaming industries. To read the articles, just click on the posters!

My very first interview was in 2011 with Naomi Harris (known for her performances in Pirates of the Carribbean, Skyfall, and as Winnie Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. She is an EXCELLENT leading character actor and definitely a warm, wonderful person to talk to.

I got the chance to interview actor and director Michael Rappaport and Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest on their documentary and their thoughts on the current state of hip hop!

This was such a beautiful film. So happy to get the chance to meet the director Christine Yao!

I freaking LOVE sci fi grounded on Earth and this movie was fantastic! Co-written by Mike Cahill and Brit Marling, directed by Cahill, and starring Marling! I've actually posted the video interview below. Don't mind my blubbering, super excited mess!

Always a pleasure getting to speak to other fellow female Asian American filmmakers such as director Doris Yeung!

Got to interview the fierce director Lynn Hershman Leeson on her documentary about female artists that was 40YEARS in the making!

Met up with producer Sim Sarna at the Napa Valley Film Festival to talk to him about Answers to Nothing! Sarna has a great documentary out on Netflix right now called Spinning Plates which is also amazing. Check it out!

My final interview for Medium Rare and definitely my favorite of all the films I've seen. Speaking to director Dee Rees about Pariah set me on fire.
